Just because Norwegian Cruise Line is rebranding itself with the tagline, “You’re free to … Whatever,” one needn’t fear that anarchy has descended upon this grand old dame of the sea. Aboard the newly launched Norwegian Pearl, civility can be found in the Owner’s Suites and in the 10 Courtyard Villas, each with a butler and concierge, all surrounding a private courtyard. Those seeking a bit more in their accommodations will be pleased to learn about their two 4,400-square-foot Garden Villa Suites, each available for $26,000 a week and featuring a private hot tub (pictured). Diners at the ship’s Le Bistro restaurant will be pleased to learn that yes, the Renoir and the Van Gogh on display are the genuine articles. While the Pearl proudly eschews traditional rules like dining-room dress codes, there’s nothing like an old master or two to bring a bit of refinement to the table.
