Celebrities lead New York Central Park tours
This summer, celebrity encounters in New York City will be as common as a walk in the park. Literally. The Central Park Conservancy has just introduced free audio tours of Manhattan’s nature oasis, narrated by famous New Yorkers including Yoko Ono, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jerry Seinfeld and others.
You won’t have to listen to a crackly audio wand either: all you need is your cell phone. Inside Central Park you’ll find 40 green signs marking famous sites like the Pond and Strawberry Fields. Dial the audio tour line (646-862-0997), and enter the extension listed on the sign. You’ll be treated to a two- to three-minute roundup of trivia, history and personal stories about the landmark by Kevin Bacon or one of his A-list friends.
And if you’re not in New York, you can still dial the audio tour line from any phone — you know, if you simply need a Carrie Bradshaw fix.
