Atlantis — the new resort on Dubai’s man-made Palm Jumeirah Island — officially opens today with the world’s most expensive party. The $35-million evening will feature a $6.5-million fireworks display and a performance by Kylie Minogue, who received $4.4 million for her services. The festivities are meant to announce the official opening of the 1,539-room, $1.5 billion Atlantis, which includes a water park, nightclub and artificial marine habitat stocked with 65,000 creatures.
