Mandarin Oriental dazzles Barcelona with Michelin-star Power
Enlisting celeb chefs to helm hotel restaurants is now de rigeur (hello Jose Andres and Jean-Georges Vongerichten). But the new Mandarin Oriental Barcelona has scooped up one of the world’s best chefs you’ve probably never heard of. Carme Ruscalleda, who counts five Michelin stars among her two restaurants (the only woman in the world to hold that honor), will head up dining at Mandarin’s first Spanish property, opening next week.
At the main restaurant, Moments, guests can expect traditional Catalan cuisine (such as suquet, or seafood stew) while the lounge space Blanc will feature “Oriental and Mediterranean” fare. Light tapas will be served in the 7,000-square-foot Mimosa Garden, which the hotel’s 98 rooms overlook. For a more expansive view, head up to the hotel’s rooftop dipping pool to take in Barcelona’s skyline.
