Sex and the City meets the Fashion District
New York’s Fashion District just got some stylish new digs: the glass-and-steel Strand Hotel, and the latest property by Atlantic Stars Hotels and Cruises, the Newport-based company that also keeps the Park South Hotel near Madison Square Park.
With a nod to its location, the Strand’s 177 rooms are curated with vintage Conde Nast fashion prints, while the top-tier guest rooms offer private balconies and views of the Empire State Building. The rooftop bar, Top of the Strand, was styled by the movie set designer for Sex and the City. And thanks to a retractable roof, it’s open year-round.
The hotel will house an outpost of A Fish Called Avalon, Atlantic Star’s Miami restaurant on Ocean Drive. But for now, guests will have to consult the Strand’s “Lifestyle Consultant” for the best eats in town — the hotel’s restaurant will open (fashionably?) late in 2010.
