The Arctic Club: Seattle’s most exclusive society is reborn
In the early 20th century, Seattle’s Arctic Club was a ritzy hangout for gold hunters returning with their Alaskan spoils. This week the former gentlemen’s club is reborn as the Arctic Club Hotel, a 120-room property by Summit Hotels. On the National Register of Historic Places, the building has retained its historic charm: original Alaskan marble, Rococco gilding and stained glass dome in the so-called Northern Lights Dome Room. But guests can expect contemporary additions too, including whirlpool tubs and complimentary WiFi. Eight suites even boast private rooftop terraces. This is a soft opening for the hotel: two of its 10 floors are still under some construction, and Juno, the restaurant, won’t open until later this month.
